Our Communities (2025)

Eat well, share more and take care of each other.

Generosity is at the forefront of everything we do. We care for our communities by donating to charities dedicated to fighting hunger and food insecurity, as well as providing grants to local non-profits and volunteering our time.

Our Communities (1)

Day-End Dough-Nation®

Bread is better when shared. We believe no loaf should go uneaten when we know there are neighbors in need. That’s why we donate our unsold baked goods to local non-profits at the end of the night through our Day-End Dough-Nation® program. We partner with over 3,300charities nationwide, including food pantries, veteran services and youth shelters, to provide bread and bakery items to those in need and to reduce food waste.

The Panera Bread Foundation ("Foundation")

Our Foundation supports and strengthens our communities by investing in underserved and at-risk children and youth and encouraging them to become leaders. The Foundation envisions a world in which young people can unlock their full potential and dare to dream — a world in which opportunity and economic mobility are accessible and equitable for all. We provide grant funding to non-profit organizations with programs focused on Mentorship, Leadership and Professional Development, College Readiness, Workforce Development, and Skills Building. The Panera Bread Foundation, Inc. is an IRS 501(c)(3) public charity.

Panera Fundraising

To support non-profit organizations such as schools, sports teams and scout groups, we allow them to host fundraising events at their local Panera cafe. Through the Panera Fundraising program, non-profit organizations have hosted thousands of events at Panera cafes. Through the program, Panera donated a portion of the net sales of each event back to the host non-profit organization.

Community Partnerships and Associate Volunteering

Beyond our core programs, we also support causes and non-profits dedicated to issues aligned with our values. Our associates share our love of generosity by giving back through financial donations and volunteering in their communities. In early 2022, we launched a formal volunteer program, Team Panera Doing Good, to empower our associates to invest their time, talent and treasure in their communities. Eligible associates receive paid time off every year to volunteer.
