DAVID WALLIAMS is a judge on Britain's Got Talent and is well-known for his previous acting roles on multiple British TV sitcoms. He is also a best-selling author and has recently launched free writing classes for kids during lockdown. But how did the star get to where he is today?

David Walliams, 49, was on ITV’s Lorraine this morning talking about his latest venture: he has partnered with the BBC to launch a series of online writing classes for children. The author has written best-selling children fiction novels during his long and successful career in the limelight. But how rich is David?

David Walliams has an impressive net worth of around £18million.
Thanks to a lengthy acting career and his role as a judge on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, David has amassed a huge fortune over the years.
He is also a best-selling children’s author and has sold over 40 million copies of his books worldwide.

David was born in 1971 in Wimbledon, London, but grew up in Surrey.
His father was a Transport for London engineer and his mother was a laboratory technician who worked at a school in South London.
After attending grammar school in Surrey, David studied Drama at the University of Bristol, and would perform with the National Youth Theatre during university holidays.
It was during these performances that he met his comedy partner and friend Matt Lucas.

David was born with the surname Williams but changed to Walliams when he joined Equity (formerly the British Actors’ Equity Association) as there was another member called David Williams in the group.
Since meeting Matt, David has acted in multiple British sitcoms with the comedian.
In 1999, the pair worked together on the sketch comedy series Rock Profile, before later writing and performing in Little Britain from 2003 and 2007.
In 2010, he created and starred in BBC One’s comedy mockumentary Come Fly With Me, again with Matt.

David has also starred alongside other well-known actors and comedians, including Paul Rudd and Steve Carrell in 2010 comedy film Dinner for Schmucks, and Catherine Tate and Frances de la Tour in 2014 BBC One sitcom Big School.
The comedian has presented various TV programmes over the years, such as a 2005 documentary on James Bond called David Walliams: My Life with James Bond, and the 2016 edition of the Royal Variety Performance.
In 2012, David became a judge on ITV’s Britian’s Got Talent, alongside Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Simon Cowell.
He is still on the show’s judging panel and won the award of Best Judge at the National Television Awards in 2015, 2018, and 2019.

David is also an author and many of his children’s novels have been adapted to the screen, such as his debut novel The Boy in the Dress and his 2010 book Billionaire Boy.
Additionally, there were stage productions of the books, and David has announced that there will be a “car park musical” of Billionaire Boy coming soon in the upcoming months.
In his personal life, David married Dutch model Lara Stone in May 2010 and the pair divorced in 2015.
The couple have a son together, named Alfred.
